pokemonNintendo Cleverly Avoids Protesters By Remodeling Famous New York Store

As reported exclusively by the Gaming Free Press on December 31st, Black Lives Matter protesters were organizing to bring awareness of the lack of African-American characters in the Super Mario universe by targeting the Nintendo World Store in New York City.  After the story broke Nintendo had announced that the store would be temporarily closed from January 19th through February 19th for a remodel.

The remodel is now complete and the store has been re-branded as Nintendo NY.  Outside of moving merchandising around, some new decorating, and a new name the store mostly remains unchanged.  It’s speculated that while the store may have lost some revenue while it was closed, it would have lost way more had the Black Lives Matter protests occurred as originally planned.
