Theoretical Physicist, Cosmologist, and Gamer Racks Up 84 and 0 Online Win Record
Street Fighter V gamers across the world have recently been shell shocked by famous scientist Stephen Hawking. Best known for his work on the expanding universe, the 74 year old who has been afflicted by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis for decades is not letting his disability hold him back.
Playing online from his estate in the United Kingdom, Hawking uses a specialized controller that provides full game functionality with an emulated 8-way joystick and six buttons. And while many gamers have enough difficulty pulling the special moves in Street Fighter V, Hawking demonstrates that he has no difficulty at all:
“Being in a wheel chair has given my mind the freedom to develop many of my theories as to how the universe works,” explains Hawkings, “but at the same time I’m always thinking of Street Fighter V… specifically combos.”
Hawking has a preference to play as Cammy, but he’ll often resort to play as Ken for online matches. In his own words, he states:
“My favorite Ken combo is a flying forward roundhouse, followed by a ducking forward or short, which I break with a spin kick and follow up with a Shoryuken. If you hit the forward roundhouse, you should have no difficulty following through on the combo. It can take up to 1/2 of your opponents life bar.”
Stephen Hawking will be attending EVO this summer in Las Vegas and plans to show the world his skills live.
