Hucksters start selling t-shirts, mugs, coasters and other goods to profit from the controversy.
As #gamergate boiled over the weekend people on both sides of the fence decided to take advantage of the opportunity by selling #gamergate branded merchandise. Over on etsy at lease one artist believes “#gamergate” to be a myth and sells a custom made t-shirt indicating as such [Update: link is dead] https://www.etsy.com/listing/1123123913/gamer-gate-t-shirt-its-a-myth.
Reports are not limited to online stores as well. A tip on the Gaming Free Press hotline reported that a t-shirt vendor on Santa Monica Pier was selling a variety of #gamergate silk screened shirts over Labor Day weekend.
