Animal Welfare Groups Decry Killing Of Mystical Elk As Senseless And Depraved
Minutes after the Sony PlayStation E3 press conference animal rights activists assembled at the Los Angeles Convention Center to protest what they claimed to be the unnecessary slaughter of a mystical elk as shown in the trailer for the latest God of War game.
The 9 minute trailer showed a young child about the agent of ten or eleven shot an arrow into an elk that had glowing eyes and antlers. After the elk collapses Kratos, the main protagonist in the God of War series helps the small child stab the elk in the heart with a knife crafted out of enchanted whale bone. The title “God of War” flashed onto the screen and it was followed by the cheers of the packed auditorium.
“It’s sick. It’s disgusting,” claimed one woman who refused to give her name, “those sick people were cheering an obviously rare and endangered animal that did nothing to them.”
While it’s unlikely to impact sales of the highly anticipated game, the event may raise awareness of mystical elk’s and their status on the official endangered species list.
