Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition is to come pre-loaded with Custer’s Revenge. This beloved game from 1982 has a playable character based on General George Armstrong Custer, most well known for his crushing defeat at the Battle of Little Big Horn. It features crude simulation of a rape of a Native American that has been known to cause criticism in the past. However, the in-game advisory reads, “If anyone should ask, tell them Custer and the maiden are just dancing,” As the simulation occurs. This game was chosen for the notoriety it generated during its initial release.
“In the scope of Fallout, issues such as race and sexual exploitation are non-existent. It is about basic survival in the world of the 2160’s. We specifically choose Custer’s Revenge for the universal silliness of contrast,” Bethesda stated defending the title choice.
The pre-loaded games were announced at the very end of Bethesda’s keynote at E3. Other titles announced include Donkey Kong and Missile Command.
“We wanted it to be more than just a second-screen companion. Having some stand alone availability makes our product more versatile.” Todd Harmon stated, “We didn’t want this to just be some stupid gimmick. We wanted RobCo Industries to be a household name.” He said, referencing the in-game maker of the Pip-Boy.
