Military Branch Seeks Compensation For Use Of Air Force Logo For 26 Years
As the Trump administration drains the swamp he is asking for all government departments to cut their budgets, or better yet – find ways to generate revenue. As it turns out the United States Air Force has not been earning royalties for the use of its logo in Capcom’s popular Street Fighter II Series and has filed a lawsuit against the popular game manufacturer as a result.
Launched in 1991, Street Fighter II featured several logos that they did not seek proper licensing rights from. For example, the car bonus stage is a 1991 Lexus complete with Lexus logo, and the Golden Nugget marquee is an exact replica used by the original casino.
While the Air Force phased out the star and stripes logo several years ago they still retain the copyright for it and may have a legal right to a portion of the billions of dollars Capcom has made from the game over the years. The Gaming Free Press will continue to follow this story.
